About IrishSim

IrishSim is an independent, multilingual guide to SIM-only and eSIM mobile plans in Ireland. It explains plans, compares prices and sets out how to switch, with a source and a checked date for every fact. It is not a mobile operator, sells nothing and is not affiliated with Lidl, 1GLOBAL, eir or any provider.

Who makes IrishSim?

IrishSim is written and built by SX.C (ShengXing Chi), an independent developer who also makes small browser games. There is no company, investor or operator behind it. Code and other work are on GitHub ↗ and dev.to ↗.

Is IrishSim paid by any operator?

No. IrishSim takes no commission, runs no affiliate links and shows no adverts. No operator has paid for or reviewed any page. Links to Lidl and other providers go to their official pages, without tracking codes, because that is where you sign up. If that ever changes, every affected page will say so.

How are the facts on IrishSim checked?

Each fact comes from a source we opened, recorded with the date we checked it: the provider's own terms and price lists first, then the regulator ComReg and Irish law, then news reports. Press-only claims are marked "reported". Where sources disagree, both are shown. Nothing is based on personal testing.

  • Official documents first: Lidl's pages and help articles, 1GLOBAL's terms, price list and fair use policy, and each operator's own terms.
  • Then the regulator and the law: ComReg's guidance and S.I. No. 444/2022.
  • News reports, such as RTÉ, The Irish Times or Goosed.ie, only for what official pages do not cover, and marked "reported".
  • Forum posts only as "users report", and never as fact.
  • Every page lists its sources at the bottom, with the date each was opened.

How often is IrishSim updated?

Prices and terms change, so no fact may go more than 30 days without being checked again: the release process refuses to publish a page otherwise. A page's "last updated" date changes only when its content changes, not every day. When a provider changes a price, the page is corrected rather than a news story written.

Why is IrishSim in several languages?

Because many people in Ireland are more at home in another language. Census 2022 counted over 750,000 people speaking a language other than English or Irish at home. English is the original; translations say so at the top, and if anything differs, the English page is correct.

How do you report a mistake on IrishSim?

Email [email protected] with the page and what is wrong, ideally with a link to the source. Every page has a "report a mistake" link at the bottom that fills in the page address for you. Corrections are checked against the source and published with a new date.
