What is Lidl Connect in Ireland?

Lidl Connect is a monthly SIM-only mobile plan from Lidl Ireland. You buy and manage it in the Lidl Plus app, it runs on the eir network, and your contract is with Lidl's telecoms partner 1GLOBAL, not with Lidl itself. Lidl announced it on 28 September 2026 and it went live on 5 October.

The contracting company is TP Ireland Operations Limited, trading as 1GLOBAL. Lidl's own page says so in plain terms: "Lidl Connect uses the Eir mobile network in Ireland. Your contract is with 1GLOBAL, Lidl's telecommunications partner." That matters when something goes wrong, because the terms, the fair use policy and the price list are all 1GLOBAL documents.

There is one plan, called Lidl Connect Unlimited. There are no tiers, no handsets and no bill pay contracts. You can choose a physical SIM, bought in a Lidl store, or an eSIM, installed through the app.

Lidl Connect also exists in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, but those are separate products on other networks with different prices. Nothing on this site applies to them, and settings or prices you find on German or Austrian pages will not match the Irish service.

What is the Lidl Connect price?

Lidl Connect costs €12.99 a month, the only price in 1GLOBAL's official price list, with no activation fee. Launch coverage reported a lower €8.99 price for life for the first 100,000 customers or until 31 December 2026, whichever comes first. Lidl's own page does not state that figure.

The official price list, dated 4 September 2026, has a single line: "Lidl Connect Unlimited €12.99". It adds: "No one-time activation or connection fees apply." That is the price this site uses in every comparison and in the savings calculator.

The €8.99 launch price was reported by Goosed.ie, the Irish Examiner and The Irish Times on 28 September 2026. The Irish Times and the Irish Examiner add that it is available once per Lidl Plus account, and that extra SIMs on the same account cost €12.99 each. We have not found these terms on an official Lidl or 1GLOBAL page, so treat them as reported until Lidl confirms them.

A physical SIM costs a one-off €0.99 in Lidl stores, according to Lidl's help pages. An eSIM is free.

What does "price for life" mean on Lidl Connect?

Under clause 9.4 of the 1GLOBAL terms, a "Price for Life" offer means the price does not rise for as long as you stay on that same plan. You lose it if you cancel, sign up again or delete your Lidl Plus account. It is a promise about your plan, not about Lidl Connect's prices in general.

The terms say the price "shall not be subject to any increase … for as long as your subscription continues on the plan to which the Price for Life offer applies". Once lost, the terms say the original offer "will not be reinstated".

One launch report described the price as "€8.99 a month for life, after which the price will increase to €12.99"; read literally that suggests a later rise. The terms do not say that, and the other reports describe €12.99 as the price for customers who join after the launch offer. This site follows the terms.

What is included in the Lidl Connect plan?

In Ireland you get unlimited data, calls and texts to Irish and UK numbers, with no speed throttling according to the fair use policy. Abroad you get 50GB of data a month and unlimited calls and texts in the EU and EEA, the UK, Switzerland, Ukraine and Moldova. Calls abroad from Ireland are covered separately.

The Acceptable Use Policy rules out SIM farming, machine-to-machine use and "sustained or automated activity". We have not found a rule about using your phone as a hotspot, so we do not say either way.

  • Data, calls and texts in Ireland: unlimited, "no speed throttling" (Fair Use Policy).
  • 5G where eir has it: up to 1 Gbit/s down and 100 Mbit/s up; 4G up to 400 Mbit/s (Service Description).
  • VoLTE and WiFi calling on compatible phones; WiFi calls cost nothing extra (Lidl FAQ, price list).
  • Roaming: 50GB of data a month, unlimited calls and texts, in the EU and EEA, the UK, Switzerland, Ukraine and Moldova. See Lidl Connect roaming.
  • International calls from Ireland: 100 minutes a month to the EU and EEA, Ukraine, Brazil, Canada, China, India, New Zealand, Australia, the US, Switzerland, San Marino and Andorra. Lidl's page and the press say "38 countries"; the fair use policy names the destinations instead.
  • Voicemail on +353 899 099 505 from your Lidl Connect number (Service Description).

Which network does Lidl Connect use?

Lidl Connect runs on eir's mobile network in Ireland, so its coverage is eir's coverage, including eir's 5G. Lidl claims "fast, reliable 5G with 99% ROI coverage". One independent test by Goosed.ie found speeds similar to eir's own customers but higher latency, with a median of 59.6 ms against 32.5 ms.

Because the network is the same, Lidl Connect, GoMo and Lycamobile all share eir's masts; eir's own customers do too. Lidl Connect vs GoMo and Lidl Connect vs eir compare what differs: price, roaming data, fair use and support.

eir began switching off 3G mobile data from 1 October 2026, so a very old phone that only does 3G data will not get mobile internet. Our coverage and network page explains how to check your address on ComReg's coverage map.

How do you get a Lidl SIM?

You sign up in the Lidl Plus app, which needs an account and an age of 18 or over. There you choose a free eSIM, installed in the app, or a physical SIM, which costs €0.99 in Lidl stores. You pay by card through Lidl Pay. Activation can take up to 24 hours.

The full walk-through, including which SIM to keep in your phone while your number moves, is on how to sign up and activate.

  1. Install Lidl Plus and sign in

Lidl Connect is "only available through the Lidl Plus app, which is available only to users aged 18 or over".

  2. Check your phone

It must be unlocked. Lidl gives iOS 16 on iPhone and Android 9 on Samsung as the minimum versions.

  3. Choose eSIM or physical SIM

eSIM is set up inside the app. A physical SIM is bought in store and linked in the app.

  4. Choose to keep your number or take a new one

If you keep it, the app asks for details from your current provider. See how to switch.

  5. Pay with Lidl Pay

"You can use your credit or debit card for Lidl Pay."

Can you keep your number when you move to Lidl Connect?

Yes. Moving your number to Lidl Connect is free and starts in the Lidl Plus app. Bill pay customers need the account number from their last bill. Only Irish numbers can move. 1GLOBAL says a port is usually done the same day during porting hours, and your Lidl Connect payment starts only once it completes.

Porting hours, from 1GLOBAL's portability FAQ: 8am–6pm Monday to Friday, 10am–4pm at weekends. Irish law requires the new provider to lead the switch and limits loss of service to one working day. Do not cancel your old plan first: the old contract ends automatically when the move completes.

Where you are moving from changes the details: notice periods, exit fees and what happens to unused credit. Each provider has its own page, starting from switching to Lidl Connect.

Does Lidl Connect work abroad?

Yes, in the EU and EEA, the UK, Switzerland, Ukraine and Moldova. There you get 50GB of data a month and unlimited calls and texts at no extra cost. At 50GB, data stops until your next month, with no extra charges. Outside that zone roaming is not available, so the SIM will not work in the US or Asia.

The fair use policy also compares your use abroad with your use in Ireland over four months, because roaming is for travel. Details, including Northern Ireland, are on Lidl Connect roaming.

How do you manage Lidl Connect, and is there a My Lidl Connect login?

You manage everything in the Lidl Plus app, in the section the app calls My Lidl Connect: your plan, SIM type, payment and number transfer. There is no separate Lidl Connect app in Ireland and no web login. Pages about a "Lidl Connect app" or login mostly describe the German or Austrian services.

Payment renews on the same day each month, and 1GLOBAL tries to take it five days before. You can cancel at any time without a fee, and the terms give a 14-day right to withdraw after you sign up. Deleting your Lidl Plus account ends your Lidl Connect service too.

For help, Lidl lists a chatbot in the app, the phone number +353 1 9203010 and the email [email protected]. IrishSim cannot see or change any account.

Frequently asked questions

How many Lidl Connect lines can one Lidl Plus account have?

Up to 4: one main line and up to three more, according to Lidl's help pages. The person using an extra line does not need the Lidl Plus app. Launch coverage reports the launch price once per account, with extra lines at €12.99.

Is Lidl Connect data throttled?

Not in Ireland, according to 1GLOBAL's fair use policy: "Unlimited data, voice and SMS to Irish and UK numbers (no speed throttling)". Abroad, data stops at 50GB a month until the next billing month.

Can someone under 18 use Lidl Connect?

Not on their own account: Lidl Plus is for adults. Lidl says a Lidl Plus account holder can assign a Lidl Connect plan to someone under 18 using the multi-line subscription feature.

Does cancelling Lidl Connect cost anything?

No. The 1GLOBAL terms let you cancel "at any time, for any reason, without cost or penalty", in the app or by email. Leaving also ends any price for life you had.

Is “Lidl mobile in Ireland” the same thing as Lidl Connect?

Yes. People often search for Lidl mobile or a Lidl SIM; the service Lidl launched in Ireland on 5 October 2026 is called Lidl Connect, and it is the only mobile plan Lidl sells here.

Is Lidl Connect Ireland the same as Lidl Connect in Germany?

No. Lidl Connect in Germany, Austria and Switzerland are separate services on other networks. The Irish service is sold through Lidl Plus, provided by 1GLOBAL and runs on eir.

Is there a Lidl Connect referral code or refer-a-friend bonus?

Not at the moment. Lidl’s help pages answer “No, not yet - referrals aren’t available at the moment.” Codes on coupon sites are for Lidl Connect in Germany or Austria, or are unverified.

Was there an older €14.99 Lidl mobile plan in Ireland?

Some search results show a Lidl plan at €14.99 for 28 days on a Vodafone test site. It is not the current Lidl Connect offer, which is listed by 1GLOBAL at €12.99 a month.
